I was particularly interested that voters seemed remarkably untroubled by the way they had been mislead over issues of refugees and the war against Iraq, and continuously unaware of the relationship between government and commercial media. The ‘amnesia machine’ seemed an apt metaphor for successful electioneering, which can be more about revising the past than promising the future.”
